A hot-melt electric furnace is an electric furnace that extracts useful elements from ore. The thermal energy comes from the electric resistance of the electric arc, the charge and the slag, and the heat released by the chemical reaction.
According to the smelting process, it can be divided into reduction electric furnace and refining electric furnace; according to its structural form, the ore electric furnace can be divided into open furnace, closed electric furnace and semi-closed electric furnace; etc.; according to the product types, it can be divided into ferroalloy electric furnace and calcium carbide electric furnace and so on.
Partitioning of refractory materials for thermal furnaces is used to minimize refractory costs. Lite recommends that carbon bricks be used for the highest temperature part of the furnace, 70 high aluminum bricks for intermediate temperature positions, and 50 high aluminum bricks for lower temperature parts. Due to the large number of sub-areas of products in a submerged arc furnace, the design and operating parameters of a given furnace must be specified to ensure that the most economical refractory products can be installed in each area.
